On May 8–9, 2025, LATIN held another Experiential Learning activity with students from the British School Jakarta (BSJ). This event was a collaboration between LATIN and Odyssey Institute, aiming to introduce the values of Social Forestry to younger generations through hands-on, experience-based learning.
The program took place at LATIN’s office in Bogor and involved 86 students in a series of outdoor, interactive activities. The students explored elements of nature, learned about the daily lives of communities living near forests, discovered different ways people earn a living through forest-related activities, and practiced teamwork and social skills through group projects.
Unlike traditional classroom learning, this experiential approach helps students not only gain knowledge but also build awareness and empathy for social and environmental issues. LATIN believes that involving younger generations is key to ensuring the long-term sustainability of Indonesia’s forests.
This program is one of many LATIN’s wider efforts to bring Social Forestry concepts closer to the public. LATIN has developed the Social Forestry Academy through Sekolah Sosial Forestri (SESORE), which reaches many audiences, especially young people, through programs such as the SESORE Academia Movement, the SESORE Landscape Model Learning, and the Social Forestry Learning Circle. Through this collaboration with BSJ, LATIN hopes to expand environmental education to younger students.
We extend our sincere thanks to the British School Jakarta for their trust and partnership in this second year of collaboration, and to all the supporters of this program. Together, we are growing a new generation that cares deeply about forest conservation and social justice.
